Here are Some ideas for final year projects.

Web Applications:

Disaster Management System: (Gain: Mapping, Database,
Payment Gateway integration, Web Services)
- A web based application integrating Google Maps or
Virtual Earth to show the locations.
- Integration with Relief Organizations for tracking /
distributing donation in affected areas.
- Payment system to accept donations.

WIKI for Mindmaps: (Gain: Flash, Flash Remoting,
Database)
- A wiki is a website or similar online resource which
allows users to add and edit content collectively.
- A mind map or mindmap is pictorial representation
how a central concept is linked to other concepts and
issues.

- The idea is to develop wiki like framework for
mindmaps where anyone can edit/add content.

Desktop Projects:

Visual Build Tool: (Gain: XML, User Interface Design)
-An integrated visual tool for working with Nant,
BuiltIt, MSBuilt or other build tools.

Mobile Projects:

Location based Tourist Information: (Gain: Mobile
Programming, Web Services, Database)
- Send SMS if you are near to some tourist spot. (GPS)
- Show map from source to destination
- Give more info about the destination, call taxi, bus
routes etc
- Give virtual tour (location picture) of that
location
- Provide image upload and location blog facility
- Automatically create a blog section for current city

Hardware Projects:

Skype/Asterisk based Call Center: (Gain: Asterisk,
Hardware skills, Huge market opportunity)

PVR (Personal Video Recorders) on PC: (Gain: Hardware
Interface Programming, Hardware Skills)

And here are some more to add to that list. Apart from
just doing the programming, please make sure that you
practice the following things when implementing any
project.
- Please don't develop yet another School Management
System, Payroll/Accounting software...or any other
database management system.
- Use Source Control Management (Try Subversion)
- Use Bug Tracking, Project Releases (Try Gemini from
http://www.counters oft.com/)
- Learn Agile Development Methodology (Extreme
programming)
- Switch roles between team members. Do some
development, some documentation, some testing.
Ideally, you host your projects on sourceforge.

Internship helps greatly,providing hand on experience.Its best to intern during your semester break,but if you can juggle your studies and get a flexible time slot from work, then you can do it during the semesters as well.
Intern enhances your resume and show your employer your commitment towards your field.Some companies hires their internees as a regular employee.So,my advice is do as my internship as you can without compromising your studies.and don't forget to ask for the recommendation letter once you have completed your internship ;)

i recommended you that first you should concentrate on your study, internship or job is the second priority, also as an BS student you should have Full cammand on any one chosen field, so try to work hard and get more knowledge about your field, making big and more project can also enhance your resumes during the semester.
