Iattempted to install WSUS role 3 different times each time with this same error message (see below). Reinstalled the OS again completely and the same error message was generated again. Fresh clean install of OS part of our domain. WSUS install went smoothly.

We do not have a proxy setup on any of our networks. We have WSUS deployed on our Production network and this works fine. This WSUS is on our Training network. Can ping to google and browse the internet with no issues. Synchronization on WSUS works just fine.

Network Service has full permission on the WSUS directory as often suggested. IIS appears to be configured just fine - checked each site for authentication against the TechNet guide. SSL/Certificate is not configured installed but I never had to this on Production WSUS.

I approved the updates and the client sees the update, it downloads 100% and starts the install, goes to 100% and then it starts the download over again. Eventually erroring with "There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:" but doesn't give me any other info. If I click retry it will start the download over and the same thing happens.

Hello everyone I manage our own internal WSUS server for our organization. We've noticed there are alot of computers failing to check in for updates and its pretty constant now. I've done some digging and tried alot of different things that is mentioned regarding this error code but it doesnt seem to be fixing it. This only started happening recently. I've attached the error logs below from the windowsupdate.log file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1) If I hit start (enter) and type "Windows Update", then select the Windows Update widget, I get a "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." This dialogue box has hte caption "c:\users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Packages\Windows.immersivecont..."

Anyone have any idea on how to stop this? I would really hate to come in some morning and have an LOB application not working because of a borked patch automatically applied, instead of tested normally.

The majority (roughly two-thirds) of my Windows 10 clients aren't reporting to our WSUS server running on 2012R2. It only seems to be Windows 10 clients having issues, all of our Windows 7 machines are working fine.

I can't find a connection between the machines that are/aren't having problems, they're all running 1511, they were all deployed with the same MDT reference image, they all use the same WSUS server to receive updates, and are all members of the same groups.

Hopefully a really easy question - been following the article -on-windows-7-and-windows-8-1-servicing-changes/ (which is very good by the way) but am struggling to see where the non-security fixes are to be found. The article says that there will be a monthly security-only quality update (which contains security fixes for that month), a monthly security rollup (which contains a rollup of the security updates) and a preview update which contains "non-security fixes that will be included in the next monthly rollup", so where are the currently released non-security fixes to be found ? - I don't really want to install "preview" versions of updates.

Hello I'am maxky ,I ask question about wusu of windows server 2008R2 support for windows 10 ? if WSUS of wndows server 2008R2 not support windows 10 or windows 8.xx , I can use wsus version ? or i use windows server version ? and windows 10 can update via WSUS Version ? if i use windows server 2008R2 , how to troubleshooting for windows 10 update via wsus ? You can help me ?

1. When we tinkered with 1511 and could get the windows updates (cumulative/update rollups, security and critical) to work we were happy with that, until we found we couldn't get the 1607 (feature update/upgrade) to work on the 1511. It errors out on the system we try it on. It downloads and prepares then errors out.

2. For 1607, we can get all updates that are not windows related to install (i.e. Office, Adobe for IE11, etc.). They are approved, but don't even show as being needed by the machines in the WSUS console area, thus never get to the systems for installation.
