Hey all,

I wanted to raise attention to the fact that a new section to the VEP file is now added and can be seen here.

Basically, this adds a new metadata section to the VEP file, specifying target versions for each graduation phase (i.e. alpha, Beta and GA). Due to this PR, this metadata section should now be added to all existing VEPs.

In order to graduate your VEP, add a VEP update PR to the kubevirt/enhancements repository. This PR should be concise and modify the following:
  1. Add the target version for the relevant graduation phase (e.g. target for Beta: 1.9).
  2. Review the graduation requirements and update them if necessary.
This will serve as a platform to discuss and possibly approve the graduation. If the graduation VEP PR is approved it means the community aims to graduate it according to the agreed upon graduation criteria. That being said, the graduation will only be final when the graduation criteria are met, and it will be finalized with a code PR that actually bumps the phase to Beta during the implementation phase. Note that a VEP PR being merged does not guarantee graduation if the graduation criteria are not met during the implementation phase.

If your VEP needs updates unrelated to the graduation itself, please make them in a separate PR. This will ease the review process and focus energy towards the graduation discussion.

Please remember to do so in the planning phase of version 1.9.
Note that changing this in-code during the implementation phase with no prior VEP update PR will not be acceptable.

Thanks for your cooperation, feel free to ask any questions.

Best Regards,
Itamar.
