Requesting: Google Summer of Code 2026 project ideas

Hi all,

The GSoC 26 project application window will open shortly. KubeVirt has been involved in the past 3 years and will likely apply again this year but..

We need project ideas and mentors. 

If you have an idea for a project and you are interested in being a mentor this year, please feel free to open an issue in the community repo.

And if you are new to the program, I encourage you to check out the rules and the guides from last year.

It's always better to have more projects but that does not always mean we will find the right contributor. The organisers have made a note for this year, but don't let this dissuade you from submitting something different:

For GSoC 2026, we are actively looking to bring in more projects in the high-demand areas of Security and AI/ML. These fields are of interest to potential GSoC contributors.
