Hello,

I was able to install Solais 11.4.212 x86_64, on openshift virtualization, so kubevirt.

I wish we can add this as supported/available OS on Kubevirt.

I have the process fully reproductible and without issues.

how can I proceed, if possible and what should I do for that ?

Kind regards,
Zied.

Hey Zied!

Thanks for sharing this - great to hear you got Solaris 11.4 running on KubeVirt.

Could you clarify what you mean by adding Solaris as a "supported/available OS"? KubeVirt is OS-agnostic by design - any guest OS that runs on QEMU/KVM should work. Therefore, I'm not aware of a formal list of supported guest operating systems.

That said, there are a few ways you could make your work available to other users:
- Contributing a blog post documenting the installation process and any quirks.
- Adding a VM template to [common-templates](https://github.com/kubevirt/common-templates) with recommended defaults for Solaris.

Would you be interested in these? Happy to point you in the right direction.

Thanks!
Itamar

Adding a preference to
https://github.com/kubevirt/common-instancetypes/tree/main/preferences
would also be great if Solaris requires specific changes to a VM/VMI.

Hi,
Thank you Itamar and Lee for your input.
Will do both, a blog post and a preference.
I know where to go for the preferences, if Itamar could put me on the way for publishing a blog post.
Zied.
