Hi folks,

With next week's VEP freeze approaching, I would like to request an exception for VEP #312, which proposes implementing a declarative API for the VM state PVC.

The PR currently has an lgtm, but we believe it would benefit from some additional review time to ensure we get the API right from the beginning. I believe one additional week would be appropriate to allow for sufficient reviews.

Thanks! Let me know if there are any concerns with this exception.

Hey Alvaro!

Since we have a full week until the VEP freeze, and given that the VEP seems pretty heavily reviewed - may I ask the reason for requesting this exception? If this is a high priority for sig-storage, I hope that people from the SIG can dedicate some time and energy to converge this by the deadline.

I mainly want to avoid a situation where many VEP authors get an exception, which de-facto delays the implementation phase. This has already happened in the past.

I'd ask you to do your best to merge the design by the VEP freeze date. If within a few days the VEP is still not converging, let us know with a concrete reason for why it should be deferred and what the gap is.

Thanks in advance,
Itamar.

Hi Itamar,

Thanks for your response! Yeah it may make sense to wait for now. I'm currently trying to get everything merged in time, but part of the storage team (including myself) is currently allocating most of our capacity to the CBT-specific VEPs. Since this one overlaps with other areas I wanted to avoid getting to the freeze without enough time.

I'll do my best to get it merged by the freeze and will let you know in time if it looks like we won't make it with a concrete reason.

Thanks!
