Hey all,

In the last KubeCon NA, I had the pleasure of sharing the time with @Vladik Romanovsky. This was a great opportunity to grab some papers and do some sketching and brainstorming. This led to many cool ideas we're still trying to finalize.

One of the topics we've been discussing is how we can leverage agents in the KubeVirt space.
Well, you know how we love VEPs :)

Let me introduce you to the VEP monitoring agent (a.k.a. vep-police-agent for lack of a better name): https://github.com/iholder101/vep-police-agent.

This agent is aimed to be optimized to understand the VEP process and continuously scans github in order to understand the current state. To make a long story short, it (currently) provides 3 services:
  • Maintains a public google sheet with the current state of all VEPs, which gets continuously updated.
  • Sends regular alerts regarding VEP status in #vep-agent-alerts channel.
    • Note: this channel is currently open to Red Hatters only. I'm working on migrating the channel to a public workspace.
  • Sends regular alerts in mail, which are more detailed and structured.
    • Due to silly limitations it sends it only to myself currently. This also needs to be fixed :)

For more information, please refer to the README.md file which is pretty detailed.

p.s. to make this a full agentic experience, the whole thing is implemented with a very heavy use of both Cursor and Claude code.

Feel free to provide feedback and/or contribute!

BR,
Itamar.

An important clarification I should probably have added before:

This agent is still in an early development phase. It is NOT "production ready" or anything like that.
But it's a start, and hopefully we can improve it over time.

So as of now - don't take its output seriously :)

Hey all,

Update: I've moved the agent's alerts to the public #kubevirt-vep-agent-alerts channel on CNCF slack [1].

This means that now everyone can watch the alerts, not only Red Hatters.

Would appreciate any feedback and collaboration. This can be a great opportunity to experiment with AI while building something valuable for the community.

BR,
Itamar.
