KubeVirt v1.8 Release Status Report

Hey all,

As we reach closer and closer to the VEP freeze, allow me to share the general current state as reflected from the v1.8 Enhancement Tracker.

We now have 25 VEPs being worked on in this release (compared to 14 in v1.7)!

This is a huge amount, and I'm proud and happy to see the list grow. In addition, VEP and VEP owners are entirely diverse, from different companies and SIGs, and that address a big range of topics. That being said, a large amount of VEPs (which is intended to grow over time) demands review effort.

Out of these 25 VEPs:

• 14 are Tracked: meaning the VEP had already merged and ready for VEP freeze.
• 7 are Proposed for consideration: meaning they have a pretty high chance of merging before freeze, but the VEP PR did not merge yet.
• 4 are At risk: meaning there's a risk of not merging the VEP PR in time.

VEP Owners: Please beware and do the necessary steps ASAP in order to merge your VEPs.

Developers: Please help review your friends' proposals and help us merge as many VEPs as possible for the upcoming release. I would really want to see more involvement in terms of review from non-approvers, which will greatly help us grow as a community.

After the VEP freeze we'll focus on VEP implementation PRs. Those should have the "approved-vep" label added to them. Such PRs should have higher priority for review, as we as a community have guaranteed to track them for the upcoming release.
