Hey all!
According to Kubevirt's
schedule, the VEP freeze for v1.8 is
tomorrow.
Are you a VEP owner and your VEP hadn't merged yet?
this is time to raise attention!
Please feel free to reach us out by mail, slack (#kubevirt-dev on k8s slack), or any other way.
Do you feel like you need more time?
If so, please submit an exception request.
- Which VEP you wish to ask an exception for.
- The reason the VEP is not merged by now.
- What is left to do.
- The extra time needed.
Please submit an exception ASAP, even if you're not sure you'll need it.
We will not accept exceptions that will be submitted late after the freeze.
What are the chances of my exception request being accepted?
This is highly dependent on the VEP: how important it is to the overall community, if a reasonable effort was invested in time, etc.
This VEP freeze was challenging because of end-of-year shutdowns. This will definitely be taken into consideration when making the exception decisions.
Saying that, there are multiple VEPs that were introduced just a few weeks ago. These veps are treated as best-effort with the lowest priority.
How can we avoid this situation next time?
Please submit VEPs as soon as you can. Review should not be stressed, and we should have enough time for thorough discussions. If you have a VEP for v1.9 - please submit it as soon as possible.
Good luck to all of us.
Thanks,
Itamar.
