I am looking for step by step installation guide for Kubernetes on CoreOS. Their official documentation is very difficult to follow. Are there better supported OS platforms than CoreOS?

There are various install methods for Kubernetes on CoreOS Container Linux[1]. Where are you looking to install?

If you are looking to install on AWS, Bare Metal, or Azure try out the Tectonic Free Tier and the Tectonic Installer.

Cheers,

Brandon

Thank you for your reply.

At this point I am testing on 3 VM hosted on VMWare, but eventually I would like to install on Bare Metal.

The Tectonic Installer has under development VMware support. Please give it a shot!

Hi, I'm the engineering manger for the Tectonic Installer team. Please let us know if you try out the VMWare installer. If you encounter any issues or have specific requirements we'd love to get your feedback on ways to improve it.

Thanks,
Ed

I tried using VMWare installer the process is painful . I am very frustrated can’t get this testing environment working. I tried injecting my ssh generated key but was not able, maybe because I am using ESXi 6.5? not sure.

Hi Motty,

Sorry to hear that. The platform is still alpha and under heavy development. If you can outline any more technical details we'll see what we can do to help. Filling an issue in our Tectonic Forum would be the most appropriate location: https://github.com/coreos/tectonic-forum/issues. I'll make sure someone looks into it.
