Hi Gaby,
Thanks for moving the survey forward! I'm looking forward to responses, especially the freeform Jobs Questions (I assume these three "explain" questions are standard for JTBD?).
For the screening questions, I'd consider the following, based on what I've learned about the main differences among infra admins:
Org type:
- Managed service provider
- Consultant
- In-house IT
Role:
- People Manager
- Admin (individual contributor)
- Architect
- Student
- Teacher
Company size -> Environment size
- Consider replacing with question about environment size, defined by number of Kubernetes nodes (hosts). Many admins don't know their company size and/or they only work for a subset of the company.
Environment locations:
- On-prem
- Managed hosting
- Public cloud
- Edge
Tech involvement:
- Add: automate, manage, and govern cloud platform?
- Combine: dev software + debug software
- Combine: setup monitoring & logging
- Add: application performance monitoring and troubleshooting?
- Scaling -> scaling, capacity, and cost management?
- Add: networking and/or security?
- Add: storage and/or backup?
- Add: OS and/or identity systems?
- Add: databases/data/AI/ML systems?
Non-Kubernetes container question - edit or remove?
- As it's worded, this seems like a superset of the Kubernetes question, because if you use Kubernetes, then you also use containers. If the idea is to track standalone containers vs orchestrated containers, then consider asking about Docker
- If the idea is to track adoption of Kubernetes vs alternatives, consider questions about OpenStack, Cloud Foundry, Terraform, Ansible. Would be interesting to see if Kubernetes platform operators also use these other automation tools, to inform integrations.
