Dear Kubernetes Community,

As you may know, back in November 2022, it was announced that AWS is going to sponsor CNCF and the Kubernetes project with $3M in cloud credits.

SIG K8s infra decided to use some of those credits for running Kubernetes’ CI jobs. We created a Prow build cluster running on AWS/EKS in March and since then we have been testing that cluster by running canary jobs.

After extensive testing, we’re confident that the cluster is production ready and we want to start migrating jobs from k8s-infra-prow-build (GCP) cluster to eks-prow-build-cluster (AWS/EKS) cluster.

The tracking issue for jobs related to kubernetes/kubernetes is available on GitHub[1]. PR for migrating the first batch of jobs was created yesterday[2]. Please note that this migration will take time, as we want to extensively test jobs before migrating them. That said, there’ll be several batches of jobs in the future.

For more details, we had a session on Kubernetes Contributor Summit[3] about this topic. The recording is not yet available, but slides should be helpful as well.

If you have any questions or encounter any issues that might be caused by this migration, please reach out to SIG K8s infra by replying to this email or via our Slack channel[4].

Thank you for understanding!

Marko Mudrinić,

on behalf of SIG K8s infra
