facing the same problem ,seems the function still in developing ? as i found a pr here

i did a test,found that if I used up all the emptyDir space, the pod status will be Evicted and the status will never change. so the pod is dead forever
But I hope the emptyDir can't be written by the user, like No space left on device warning , not the pod dead forever
@lovejoy @RenaultAI As you discovered, the sizeLimit parameter set for emptyDir volume could not be used for creating a volume with the size. Instead what it does it that eviction manager keeps monitoring the disk space used by pod emptyDir volume and it will evict pods when the usage exceeds the limit.
You can request a feature for your use case so that we might work on it. Thanks!
