Hi Team,

I'm writing to announce an important update to Node-Problem-Detector (NPD). We will be transitioning its major version from v0 to v1, representing long-time stability. We also update its branching model from the single branch to multiple release branches that aligns with the Kubernetes release cycle. For details of the proposal and reasoning, please see https://github.com/kubernetes/node-problem-detector/blob/master/docs/versioning.md.

NPD is a Kubernetes component designed to monitor the health of nodes within a cluster and report any detected problems to the Kubernetes API server. It has built-in functionality and allows plugging in custom monitors. It is run as a standalone app or as a DaemonSet in many environments. We hope this update will reignite some energy behind the project.

Best,
Zhen on behalf of NPD maintainers
