Hello!

We'd like to ask for an exception that allows https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/123482 to be merged into 1.30 after the code freeze.
  • Enhancement name: Container Resource based Pod Autoscaling
  • Enhancement status: GA
  • SIG: Autoscaling
  • k/enhancements repo issue #: #1610
  • PR #’s: https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/123482
  • Additional time needed (in days): 0 (We now have
  • Reason this enhancement is critical for this milestone: Container resource based pod autoscaling is a key enabler for end users to achieve more efficient horizontal autoscaling of their workloads in a world of ever more sidecars. The feature has been in beta for 3 full releases now, but moving it to GA will allow a significantly larger pool of end users to make use of it.
  • Risks from adding code late: Minimal, new code is mostly defaulting the feature gate and removing code related to enabling then disabling the feature gate. In terms of test stability, existing tests for this area are reliable, a number of tests being removed used for testing downgrades when enabling then disabling feature gate.
  • Risks from cutting enhancement: Delays the ability for users unable to use non-GA features to take advantage of more efficient autoscaling in their clusters and thus lower resource/costs wastage.
