Hello Kubernetes community!

Welcome to week 1 of the Kubernetes 1.35 release cycle. 🎉

This is a last call to weigh in on the release cycle schedule[0]. We will be merging the PR for this very soon by Friday 19th September 2025.

I want to highlight a few changes for this release for our awareness:
  • Freeze Deadlines: All cutoff dates will follow Anywhere on Earth (AoE) time. This means items can be merged until the last minute of the due date in any time zone—typically 12:00 UTC the following day. This is a change from the last cycle.

  • PRR Hard Deadline: The Production Readiness Review(PRR) deadline will now be a hard PRR Freeze[1]. Our Release Enhancements subteam lead Rayan Das will be reaching out soon with more details.
In a nutshell: contributors now need to submit a formal Exception Request[2] if missing this deadline.

  • Visual Release Path Updated: The Visual Release Path diagram[3] has been updated to include the new PRR Freeze.

Thank you!
