Hello Kubernetes community!
TL;DR: Code freeze is one week from today, and we are tracking 66 enhancements post-Enhancements freeze. Several important deadlines are coming up, please write your docs and suggest major themes!
We are now about halfway through the v1.30 release cycle. Here's what's going on!
Upcoming important dates (schedule):
Code Freeze - Wednesday, 6 March
Docs Ready for Review - Tuesday, 12 March
Major Themes - Tuesday, 19 March
Docs Freeze - Tuesday, 26 March
Test Freeze - Wednesday, 27 March
Enhancements
We are currently tracking 66 enhancements post-Enhancements Freeze. There were 6 exception requests, all minor and all granted.
Blogs
We are currently tracking 17 feature blogs to be published post-release. A mid-cycle Deprecations and Major Changes blog highlighting significant enhancements will be published.
Documentation
The deadline to have your documentation PR ready to review is Tuesday, 12 March. Please get your docs in as early as possible so that we have adequate time to review them!
This cycle, the PR Ready to Merge deadline for Documentation has been replaced with a Docs Freeze. Exception requests will be required for enhancements that miss this deadline. Docs Freeze is scheduled for Tuesday, 26 March.
Major Themes
Each release, we choose high impact features to be major themes. You can nominate an enhancement to be a major theme by adding a comment with a link to the feature to the discussion on Github. We kindly request that all SIG Leads and Technical Chairs participate in this collection. The deadline is Tuesday, 19th March.
Last but not least, I want to thank all of our release team members for their hard work so far, as well as all of our KEP owners, PRR Reviewers, SIG Leads, and contributors. Your hard work makes this happen. Hopefully I see some of you at Kubecon Paris!
For any questions or feedback, please reach out to us on Slack in #sig-release.
xoxo,
Kat Cosgrove, on behalf of the v1.30 Release Team
