Alright everyone, following up on this, we've made the changes in github and the meeting notes, let me take an opportunity to remind everyone of the useful resources:

SIG Chairs and TLs, this is the schedule for the year, please add these updates to your calendars: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1adztrJ05mQ_cjatYSnvyiy85KjuI6-GuXsRsP-T2R3k/edit#gid=2099955418

Cloud Provider, Autoscaling, Scheduling, and Scalability are scheduled to give their updates this next Thursday, January 16th. Our host will be Laura Santamaria, who will be hosting her first meeting for us!

Subject: Changes to the Community Meetings

Hi everyone,

Executive Summary: The weekly Thursday community meetings will be moving to a monthly cadence, third Thursday of the month, the time remains unchanged.

Details (mostly for chairs and tech leads):

Invites have been sent to the list - there was no way for me to modify the existing entries to change the schedule so I had to regen new invites, sorry about that. As a bonus we won't be meeting until Jan 16th, giving us time to adjust.

So why are we doing this? Over the past few months we've seen declination in the weekly meeting attendance. We asked around and the gist was that we just have too many meetings going on and it's just too much to juggle, so we're going to shoot for quality and brevity over quantity. Here are some other changes we are making:

  • We're making demos optional and core-k8s only. While it is awesome to see all of the things happening in the k8s ecosystem there are CNCF Webinars and other resources available for things like this, we're going to keep things scoped to core, so if you want to do a demo it should  be core related or something owned by a SIG, if there's no demo we'll just add in another SIG status report.
  • We'll of course continue the release manager section since that is useful to folks
  • Since we're only meeting once a month the SIG/WG updates will be less frequent for each SIG. This is less work for SIGs, however, it means that your SIG Status update is now crucial as it'll probably only be once inbetween your KubeCon sessions. Since we know a month in advance we expect SIGs to not punt their status as we've done in the past.
  • Chairs and tech leads, I am working on a new schedule for the status updates, once we've finalized it we'll let you know where to find it and when you're up. In the meantime chill and enjoy the holidays. 😄
I'm happy to answer any questions!
