Hello,
We are requesting an exception for a Kubernetes 1.24 enhancement.
Enhancement name: Kubectl Subresource Support
Enhancement status (alpha/beta/stable): alpha
SIG: SIG CLI
k/enhancements repo issue #: https://github.com/kubernetes/enhancements/issues/2590
PR #’s: apiserver changes - https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/103516, kubectl changes - https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/99556
Additional time needed (in days): 0 (code has already been merged)
Reason this enhancement is critical for this milestone:
This enhancement introduces an alpha flag to some kubectl commands. Based on the feedback of the alpha flag, we plan to add this flag to more kubectl commands (like apply) as well. We’d like to get this in v1.24 to get early feedback. It’s also a highly requested feature, please see responses on this issue.
Risks from adding code late: (to k8s stability, testing, etc.)
Code has already been merged.
Risks from cutting enhancement: (partial implementation, critical customer usecase, etc.)
Code has already been merged, so it would need to be reverted if the enhancement is cut from the release. It would also delay in gathering feedback for the alpha flags.
Additional context:
The KEP is up-to-date and has the latest milestone pointing to v1.24 . This milestone was updated in Jan.
The v1.24 milestone was added to the enhancement issue in Jan, so it looks like we only missed adding it to the enhancement spreadsheet.
Thanks,
Nikhita
