Hey Everyone,

I've added ReferenceGrant to tomorrow's sig-auth agenda if there's time to cover it. A year ago we discussed how we (Gateway API) planned to use this resource to enable cross-namespace references. Since then, SIG-Storage has been planning to adopt the same resource to enable cross-namespace snapshots. In that KEP review, Michelle mentioned that they would prefer a more neutral home for this resource. Of course the Gateway API subproject has also been interested in finding a better home for this resource. It seems like this resource is quite relevant to SIG-Auth, is there any interest in taking ownership of this resource?

We're currently on track to graduate ReferenceGrant to beta within Gateway API in ~2-3 weeks, but if this resource were about to move to another API group entirely, we'd need to either reconsider or at least have a clear migration path for our users.

Thanks!

Rob

One of the challenges we should figure out is how to release and version CRDs that are out of K8s versioning that dependencies.

Being decoupled was a huge positive for the GW project -- so we would like to stay decoupled if possible.
