Exception Request for KEP-3939

Hello,

I would like to make an exception for release 1.28.

• Enhancement name: KEP 3939 - PodReplacementPolicy for Jobs
• Enhancement status (alpha/beta/stable): alpha
• SIG: sig-apps
• k/enhancements repo issue #: https://github.com/kubernetes/enhancements/issues/3939
• PR #’s: API Change (https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/119301), PodGC (https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/118772), and Implementation of API (https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/117015)
• Additional time needed (in days): 3 day
• Reason this enhancement is critical for this milestone: Alpha feature so missing deadline prolongs release.
• Risks from adding code late: (to k8s stability, testing, etc.) Very little risk as it is feature guarded and impacts job in an opt-in way.
• Risks from cutting enhancement: (partial implementation, critical customer usecase, etc.) See KEP 3939 for motivation but general motivations includes better support for parallel jobs and to correctly recover from disruptions.  

I am filling this exception because I see a few other Job APIs getting merged and there are some conflicts due to other api changes.  I think it should only take me tomorrow to resolve these.  All PRs have a /approved label and it’s mostly just resolving the conflicts.  

API PR is approved and /lgtm and I just have to update the PR to reflect other API changes that have gone into the Job API.

I expect API change (https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/117015) to take a while to be approved. Would you be able to obtain approval in time? Have you started a discussion with API approvers?

I made a mistake in the list actually. API PR is https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/119301 and Implementation PR is https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/117015.API PR has been approved and is the queue right now.
