Hi Kube folks,

This email is to inform you all that the release cycle for Kubernetes 1.22 has officially started. At this moment, we are aiming for the following major milestones:

  • Monday, April 26th: Week 1 - Release cycle begins!

  • Thursday, May 13th: Week 3 - Enhancements Freeze

  • Thursday, July 8th: Week 11 - Code Freeze

  • Tuesday, July 27th: Week 14 - Docs must be completed and reviewed

  • Wednesday, August 4th: Week 15 - Kubernetes v1.22.0 released

We are planning on a 15-week release cycle for 1.22. Please note that KubeCon EU will fall during this release, from May 4-7. You can find the release schedule at https://github.com/kubernetes/sig-release/blob/master/releases/release-1.22/README.md

With those important details out of the way, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Savitha Raghunathan and I will be the release lead for this cycle. Joining me will be Anna, Derrik, Divya, and Kirsten as Release Lead Shadows. Please feel free to reach out to us should you have any comments, questions, or concerns!

We will be joined by a great set of individuals on the 1.22 Release Team (see team members here: https://github.com/kubernetes/sig-release/blob/master/releases/release-1.22/release-team.md). You can find us in slack in #sig-release; in GitHub by pinging @kubernetes/release-team; and personally via the release team list found here https://github.com/kubernetes/sig-release/blob/master/releases/release-1.22/release-team.md.

Stay tuned for more communications about the 1.22 Release!

Thank you!

Savitha,

On behalf of the Kubernetes 1.22 Release Team
