SIG Release/Release Managers/WG K8s Infra (and the wider community) --
We (SIG Release) intend to rename the container image promoter repo (
https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/k8s-container-image-promoter
), as well as its default branch (to "main").
Non-disruptive work on this has already begun and is tracked here:
https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/k8s-container-image-promoter/issues/424
I've proposed two potential repo names:
`
sigs.k8s.io/kpromo`
(the name of the
artifact promotion CLI tool
)
`
sigs.k8s.io/promo-tools`
If you'd like to vote on the repo name or have blocking concerns, please comment on the tracking issue by Wednesday, September 15th at 3pm US ET.
Following that consensus period, we will proceed with the more disruptive changes (as defined in
https://k8s.dev/rename
).

Reminder that we're approaching consensus timeout.
sigs.k8s.io/promo-tools
has pulled ahead (but there's still time to vote) and I've opened
https://github.com/kubernetes/test-infra/pull/23605
to reflect the vote.

Thanks everyone for your feedback!
We'll proceed with these changes shortly after approvals come in for the following PRs:
https://github.com/kubernetes/test-infra/pull/23605
https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/k8s-container-image-promoter/pull/428

Kubernetes Community,
The artifact promotion tooling repository has been successfully:
renamed to kubernetes-sigs/promo-tools (
https://sigs.k8s.io/promo-tools
)
updated with a default branch name of "main"
If you're a consumer of the tooling, I've cut a new release to resolve any module import issues:
https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/promo-tools/releases/tag/v3.2.1
Update your import paths and `go mod tidy` or `go get
sigs.k8s.io/promo-tools/v...@v3.2.1`
and you should be good to go.
If you're contributing directly to the tooling, please be sure to update your development environment by following the
GitHub instructions to rename your local branch
.
Post-rename tasks are in-flight and can be tracked here:
https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/promo-tools/pull/428
Please use this issue to report any curiosities you encounter.
This was incredibly easy, thanks to wonderful renaming guidance put together by the GitHub Management crew!
Thanks everyone!
Stephen
