Hello team,

We are extending the 1.19 schedule with some adjustments to the milestone dates, including a 7-day break leading up to KubeCon.

These 1.19 release milestones have been updated as follows:

  • [+1 Week] Friday, June 19th: Week 10 - Docs, open placeholder PRs
  • [+2 Weeks] Thursday, July 9th: Week 13 - Code Freeze
  • [+1 Week] Thursday, August 6thWeek 17 - **Cherry Pick Deadline** (EOD Pacific)
  • [+1 Week] Thursday, August 6thWeek 17 - **Test Freeze** (EOD Pacific)
  • [+2 Weeks] Tuesday, August 25th: Week 20 - Kubernetes v1.19.0 released

For more information, please see: https://github.com/kubernetes/sig-release/tree/master/releases/release-1.19

The world during this 1.19 release has been a constant reminder to value people over product and focus on community over company.

Thank you all for being so incredible, understanding teammates through these times!

Sincerely,

Taylor Dolezal
1.19 Release Lead

I'm interested to know how this decision was made. The last sig-release meeting was apparently on the 19th of May and it doesn't seem to have been discussed there:

I looked on the sig-release mailing list and couldn't find a discussion.

On kubernetes-dev I only see the past discussion where the community worked towards the last set of dates:

I looked around on slack and couldn't find a discussion there. The closest I could find was a comment talking about how the PR was incomplete.

Can you help me understand why we made this change and where it was discussed? All I see is a 4 day old PR without context or explaination.

Thank you so much!

-Eric
