Running JDK 1.8 JVM on Kubernetes

We are successfully running Nodejs apps on kubernetes. We wanted to run our JVMs too. But the below blogs got me thinking

I have the same consideration about this problem, I wonder if there's a best way to do it sine in kubernetes version 1.9 horizontal autoscaling can be defined using custom metrics. Is it possible to use udp metrics from JVM to scale the pod?
