Dear Kubernetes community,

The regular cadence for the monthly Kubernetes releases called for this month's patches to be cut on Oct 20 '21. Releasing on that date meant that the cherry-pick deadline fell right during KubeCon week.

For this reason, during today's SIG Release Meeting we determined to move this month's patches one week later to allow contributors extra time after the conference to have all patches merged without rush. The new dates should appear on the releases page soon:

    New cherry-pick deadline: 2021-10-22
    New patch release date: 2021-10-27

Last call for 1.19!
As a reminder, in addition to the branches still in support (1.20, 1.21 and 1.22) the last 1.19 maintenance release will be cut. If you have a critical patch, please propose it to be cherry-picked before the deadline. Note that branches in maintenance mode only get CPs that meet the following criteria:

  • CVEs (under the advisement of the Security Response Committee)
  • Dependency issues (including base image updates)
  • Critical core component issues

If you have any questions, please approach the release management team, we're always happy to hear from you.

Happy KubeCon everybody, either in person or virtually!
