Hi Kubeflow Community,

Over the past several months KSC has been working on a new committee – the Kubeflow Distribution Committee (KDC) – to provide a vendor-neutral home for the development, sustainability, interoperability, and distribution of Kubeflow subprojects, with the Kubeflow Community Distribution (KCD) as its primary reference deployment.

The draft charter is up for review here:

What the KDC will do:

  • Define and maintain requirements for the Kubeflow Conformant mark used by external distributions
  • Validate the consumability of Kubeflow subprojects (portability, packaging, integration gaps) and surface issues to maintainers
  • Govern the Kubeflow Community Distribution: a vendor-neutral, multi-tenant, secure reference deployment of Kubeflow subprojects and Kubeflow Ecosystem

Committee structure:

  • 40% – vendors appointed by the KSC (1-year terms; not eligible to vote on KCD-specific topics), 4 seats
  • 30% – KCD maintainers, 2 seats
  • 30% – one seat per Kubeflow subproject. On KCD-specific votes, maintainers and subproject seats split 50/50

Please review the PR and leave comments, suggestions, or concerns directly on GitHub by end of this week: June 7th 2026

If you cannot comment by this week but want to be involved in the discussion, please reply on this thread or reach out in #kubeflow-platform on Slack.

Thanks to all maintainers for driving this, and to everyone who has contributed feedback so far.

Regards,

Andrey
