Kubeflow Elections Process will begin on 18 November 2024

Hi all, 

Exciting news! We will kick off the Kubeflow Elections Process on Monday 18 November 2024. 

Last year we held our first election for the Kubeflow Steering Committee (KSC). The KSC is made up of 5 members.  Last year we elected 3 of those members with 2 of the 5 seats being held by the interim steering committee. This year we are moving to elect those 2 seats still held by the interim steering committee.

The timeline will be as follows: 

Election Timeline

Exceptions Phase: 18 November 2024 at 0900 Pacific Time (Starts) - 24 November 2024 at 12:00pm Pacific Time (Ends)

Nominations Phase: 25 November 2024 at 0900 Pacific Time (Starts) - 8 December  2024 at 12:00pm Pacific Time (Ends)

Testimonial Phase: 9 December 2024 at 0900 Pacific Time (Starts) - 22 December 2024 at 12:00pm Pacific Time (Ends)

Voting Phase: 23 December  2024 at 0900 Pacific Time (Starts) - 12 January 2025 at 12:00pm Pacific Time (Ends)

Announcement of Election Results: 13 January 2024

Exceptions Phase

The exceptions phase will be open for 1 week and start on 18 November 2024. If you are not on the list of eligible nominees or voters and believe you should be listed, you can file for an exception during this phase. To file an exception please fill out the exceptions form*. *you can not file an exception until that phase starts. Link will be sent to the mailing list and updated in Github at that time. (18 November 2024)



Nomination Qualifications


Nomination qualifications: A nominee should be an active member in the Kubeflow Community and have a minimum of 50 contributions* to the Kubeflow project in the last year.** have the available bandwidth to be invested in the KSC, and be able to operate neutrally in discussions regardless of company or project affiliation. If you believe you are eligible, but are not listed as eligible you may file an exception*. (Election officers are ineligible to run in an election, but can vote.)

Voting Qualifications

Qualified members are those Kubeflow Community Members who have a minimum of 50 Commits in the last year from the start of the election process. As noted above, For this election the last year is from 17 November 2023 to 17 November 2024. If you believe you should be able to vote but aren't on the list, you can file an exception. *you can not file an exception until that phase starts. Link will be sent to the mailing list and updated in Github at that time. (18 November 2024)

I'll update the elections folder and send out more details about each phase of the election process before 18 November 2024. Please note: If there is anyone who would like to help me with this, please let me know as I would like to teach more people how to run these. Please note if you help with the elections as an election officer you can NOT run for KSC Seats. Please let me know if you have any questions. With gratitude,

Hi all, 

I've submitted the PRs for the Election Process as well as the list of Eligible Voters and Candidates.  Once approved, I'll add the links to this thread.  Below is the list of those who are eligible to both vote and be nominated.  If you believe you are eligible for either list and you don't see your Github account listed, please file and exception.  If there is not a link beside the Github ID it means I'm still working to find account. 

Also, I'll be reaching out to verify email addresses for all those eligible to vote.

As explained in the document, we extracted the list of eligible voters and those candidate eligible to nominated from the github contributions.

If you believe your name should be on either list you may file an exception between 18 November 2024 starting at 9:00am PT and 24 November 2024 ending at 12:00pm PT.​
