Dear All,
For this past week, I've been working with a group of local companies and organisations in the immediate response to the earthquake.
The direct aid activities are starting to wind down now, but the work that continues is the collection of data on the villages that have been supported. We believe that this data can be quite important for longer-term planning in those communities.
Our group has been working to compile information from groups and individuals that have visited those villages and to upload that information into the database.
There has been growing interest in this effort, and we have expanded the scope to include any group and organisation that has been to those villages. So, we'd like to encourage folks to visit our online survery form and to fill out information for each of the villages (or VDCs) that have been visited. survey.centerpointrelief.org
I've searched carefully to see if any other similar efforts were under way, and have not seen anything that fits this need. So we are expanding this to include all organisations. (if you do know of other efforts, please do let me know)
The results of the survey will be available real-time at a link provided on the survey site.
So, the request to all of you is to share this with your networks and encourage groups who have visited villages to submit reports (each report should take about 15 mins).
Please note, this should not be seen as a duplication of Quakemaps. We are still using that resource for reporting on urgent needs that require response. But the CenterPoint survey is aimed at compiling a more comprehensive picture of the status of each of the villages.
In any case, I will appreciated any assistance you can provide to encourage NGOs and Associations in your networks who may be able to add to this data set. Please share this broadly, and don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you and best regards,
Dennis.
