Hello,

We've taken a kitten ff the street, so I was hoping someone could recommend me a vet for vaccinations, spaying/neutering please?

Preferably in the Bhaisephati area.

Cheers,
Kyle

Hi Kyle,

I don't think there is any VET in Bhaisepati area but the nearest one and good one is in Jawalakhe.  As you reach Jawalakhel around about from Bhaisepati turn left toward the police station and drive straight till you reach the house ahead which is the Mobile Vet clinic.

Hello Kyle,

I have many pets and i have used all the vet in Kathmandu but found only one best at his job.

Animal Medical Centre at Chabahil. His name is Dr. Sushil.

I agree with Abhishesh.  Dr. Sushil Poudel is excellent with his work.  He practiced in Malaysia for many years and then studied emergency treatment in the US.  He does his own lab work.
Because he only recently returned here, his clinic is quite small, but don't let that put you off.  I am a dental hygienist and am very conscious of sterile techniques and was very impressed with the cleanliness and sterile techniques he used.  You can call for an appointment 984 3544 4022.  He also has a landline in his clinic but it hadn't been set up when I saw him.
He is located across the road to Boddha opposite the Pasang Lhamu statue.

That being said, there are many vets in Patan who do well with sterilizing animals as well as immunizations and deworming and nutritional recommendations.  I, personally am unfamiliar with most of them except for Dr. Mukti Shrestha, who used to be the vet for the zoo, his fees are higher 552-4236 located on what is known as Care road, Pulchowk.  But there is also Animal Nepal, an animal rescue and treatment center.  They would be excellent in spaying/neutering a cat, as well as vaccinations. 553-8068  They are located in Dobighat, Patan, and their fees are much lower.  And for other services, they could probably recommend a veterinary clinic for your needs.

Thanks for all the replies to this post, we went to Mobile Vet Clinic by the Zoo and they were really good.

Just wanted to continue on this thread and ask if people have thoughts on when a rescued kitten should be allowed outside? We live in a quiet area with not many cars and dogs (outside ring-road). I think at home it's usually between 3-6months, but since this one was living outside before we took it in, is it ok for it to go outside earlier? Can't find any answers to this on the net, most of the forums come up as UK or USA based and say things like 6months-1year, but I don't think that is relevant in this context?

On a similar note, but sort of weird - does anyone know if kittens get eaten by birds of prey?!

Thanks!
