I encourage you to put up a Blogspot blog about your experience. You
can easily get to the first page of Google. This has been my solution
for Nepali services like this. Before I tried posting my complaints
here, but they were not always posted.
Customer service in Kathmandu completely out of control. Can we name
one service that works properly in this place? Is there a single
service that takes responsibility for negative outcomes or addresses
the problems?
The final straw with Websurfer was when I called them and explained
the problem and elaborated on how to fix it. They still ignored me and
hung up the phone. It is one thing to lie and make up excuses out of
ignorance, but when the customer explains how to fix the problem,
basically doing their job for them and they still can not fix the
issue; What can be said about that?
What can be said for (all of the ISPs I have tried in KTM) that hire
technicians who have no understanding of technology? It is never
acceptable to argue with the customer, but it goes a step beyond when
you argue against technical facts that can be researched instantly
online. There is no excuse for unqualified technicians when it is so
easy to take responsibility and educate yourself with the Internet.
Sadly, this is the same service you can expect from any ISP in Kathmandu.
When the Websurfer representative came to collect the equipment after
I had canceled their service, his office hung up on him as well! There
is really no way forward with this kind of business. The problems
extend from the management right down to the values of the employees.
People in Nepal like to talk about international hegemony or point
fingers abroad when it comes to issues like clean water, electricity,
or sanitation. If those institutions are run anything like the ISPs,
it is clear where the source of the problem is.
