Parliament will debate the housing and planning bill - and may vote it into law - on May 3rd.
Campaigning is having a huge impact on the debates in the Lords this month, with many defeats for the government on various ammendments. But we can't afford to congratulate ourselves just yet because even with amendments this Bill will still be devastating for social housing. We still need to kill this bill completely!
Join the protest and lobby on May 3rd from 12 to 2pm outside parliament, and at a meeting inside parliament from 3pm to 7pm.
We know people are coming from London, Wolverhampton and Nottingham and we have confirmed contributors to the lobby including Ruth Lister who wants to talk about the concessions wrung out of the Government on rights to secure tenancies for those escaping domestic violence. A mailing about the lobby has gone to all MPs.
Join and share the facebook event here (also contains a model email to send to your MP to ask them to attend)
We have our next organising meeting this Saturday April 30th 11am at the Unite Office 128 Theobalds Rd wc1x 8tn. All welcome.
Let us know if you need leaflets for 3rd May lobby, or come along to help us distribute them at London's May Day march Sunday 1st 11.30am Clerkenwell Green and at the Fleadh at Finsbury Park Monday 2nd.
Please send any of your local campaign reports or updates for our website and facebook page to
killtheho...@gmail.com.
Many thanks
