Learn about issues that effect us all!
1- Actions of civil disobedience in Seattle: Discussions about the
exhibition that was held on May 20 in Seattle where 40 people blocked
the lifting of the immigration court in Seattle for two hours.
2- The march of 70 miles: Jose Maldonado, community member and host
of the sports program on KSVR trekked from Burlington to Seattle to
call for immigration reform.
3- A marathon was recently organized by Skagit Community Action
Agency: This marathon was organized to raise funds for the program
Women, Infants and Children (WIC) gathered $ 15,000.
4- Little Mountain School recently held a year-end celebration: There
were foods from different countries, music and the opportunities for
parents ,teachers and students to share their experiences gained
during the school year.
Interview with Carol Dancerol she is part of the farm worker and
pesticides project in Washington County to talk about how harmful are
some pesticides on the health of farmers and their families.

We’ve got a new term on KSVR, known as “Fusic” on the highly popular
and engaging “Stuarto Show” created by Stuarto Glasser. If you’re
into the combination of cooking and music, try out this recipe created
for last weeks program focus, the music and food of the Caribbean.
Chef Stuarto,s Fusic of the week
Caribbean fried rice
Ingredients
1/3 cup canola oil
1 cube butter
1 tbls crushed garlic
3 cups cooked long grain rice
1 large egg
1 cup black beans
1/2 cup mixed dried papayA mango/ pineapple white raisins
1cup chopped in chunks fresh pineapple
1/2 cup diced red and green peppers
1/3 cupchopped green onion/cilantr
1/4 cup chopped sweet onion
1/4 cup toasted coconut
1 lime
1/2 cup veggie broth
1/3 pineapple juice
3 tbls soy sauce
1tbls red chili flakes
Options
add 1 cup of either crunchy cured thick bacon or cubes grilled chicken
or undercooked shrimp or any other fish or meat or 1 1/2 cup of all
Heat up on medium. Large skillet 4 inch deep
Place oil in add garlic
Add red and green peppers for 3 minutes
Add sweet onion 3 minutes
Add pineapple and 1/2 stick butter
Stir slowly. 4 minutes
Add rice broth and juice slowly and gently stir until well mixed
cover and reduce heat for 7 minutes
Add black beans toss
Add dried fruit stir gently for 4 minutes
Add your meat/ fish/ bacon at this time
Stir well 2 mins
Take the egg and scramble it seperately
Add remainder of stuff
Cilantro / green onions/soy/ coconut
Toss with egg remainder of butter
Top with fresh cilantro/ coconut a squeeze of lime
