for holiday baking with Chef Stuarto!

5PM Tuesday, December 21 “Skagit Talks”
The La Conner School District continues to remain focused on providing
local foods for k-12 schoolchildren. Britta Eschete talks with
Georgia Johnson, Food Services Manager for the La Conner School
District.

11AM Wednesday, December 23 “My Point of View”
Hear the viewpoints local high school students who were awarded
scholarship money during the “Champions of Diversity” awards
ceremony. Call in to the studio at 416-7000 to ask questions directly
to scholarship winners, during this one hour locally produced program.

our Christmas Special taking place from 7-8PM.


PARTICIPATE

Get out your baking pans, and pluck the last of the cabbage from the
garden…It's Foosic Time!

Stuarto's Grandmother's
Cabbage rolls


2 sm. crabbages
6 c. sauerkraut
1 lg. onion, chopped
2 lb. ground meat (beef or beef and pork mixture)
1 c. bread crumbs
2 eggs, beaten
1 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. paprika
1 lb. pork sausage links
1 can beef broth
1 pt. sour cream


Sauce
Can of diced tomatoes
1 cup white raisins
1/2 can chicken broth
2 tbls sugar




Place cabbage leaves in a large pot; cover with water. Cook briefly
until leaves are wilted. Drain and dry with paper toweling.
Mix onion, ground meat, bread crumbs, eggs, salt, and paprika for meat
loaf. Place meat mixture (about 2 tablespoons each) into each cabbage
leaf and roll leaf around meat. Put layers of sauerkraut, sausage,
cabbage rolls, into a large pot; add beef broth. Simmer gently for 2
hours.
Combine sauce components and simmer for 20 minutes
Add to cabbage rolls.
Serve rolls with sauce and with a dollop of sour cream on each
portion.
Any leftover cabbage may be layered in the pot with the cabbage rolls.
