Welcome to KSVR Word Waves, a short and simple guide to what’s
happened and what’s happening on 91.7FM “Community Radio for the
Skagit Valley”
Beginning next week, KSVR Word Waves will be send out on Mondays, so
we can better provide a Monday-Friday guide to local programs on
KSVR. Please note, this is not an all-inclusive guide, weekly updates
and program downloads can be found on the E Blogger Site "KSVR The
Blog" and at the KSVR Facebook site.
HIGHLIGHT of the WEEK
What could be better than winning a pair of free tickets? No numbers
to scratch off or scavenger hunt experience needed, just be sure to
tune in to “The Blue Boulevard” airing from 8-10PM, Wednesday,
November 10, hosted by Jackson Stewart.
One lucky listener tonight will win tickets to the upcoming Rick
Epting Benefit Concert, taking place on Saturday, November 13th at the
Lincoln Theatre in Mount Vernon. Featured performers are “The Tommy
Castro Band” and local blues musician Reggie Miles.

Korten's recent talk at the Whidbey Institute during the Beaming
Bioneers conference in October. Mr Korten will outline 3 elements of
change: strategies for shift toward resilient local living economies,
and outline design elements of re-organized economic systems.
7PM Wednesday, November 10, “ Documentary Hour”
This is the second Wednesday of the month, so we air the Peace Talks
Radio program: JFK’s Turn Toward Peace. James Douglass, author of JFK
and the Unspeakable; Why He died and Why it Matters, spells out his
theory that the 35th President was the victim of a murder conspiracy
and that he died because of his peacemaking policies.
Midnight Documentary(midnight) Wednesday, November 11 Ritual and
Legacies are being gently revealed to Western life. Traditional
cultural living is strengthened in legacies of truth that carried
forward through ritual. Dr. Pay Gay, psychologist and conjure-woman
explains why.

Hear from Paul Cienfuegos, a community organizer and activist from
Humbolt County, California who says that focusing on limiting or
stopping corporate power (as a result of the recent Supreme Court
decision granting them the right to fund political activities) is an
inadequate response to a fundamental problem.
5PM Friday, November 12 “Skagit Talks”
It’s legal briefs week, learn about the issue of elder abuse.
6:30AM Saturday, November 13 “Latino Special”
For decades, people have said the United States has treated Latin
America as a project for exploit and economic expansion. Even do-
gooders see the global south as deserving of unilateral help or
charity. But social change activists say the tables have turned. On
this edition, we’ll hear from experts who say – especially in times of
crisis - there’s a lot to learn from social movements in Latin
America.

If you missed The Tune Stranglers the first time, you’re in luck that
KSVR has a repeat policy (on certain programs anway!)
4:30PM Sunday, November 14 “Kitchen Cuisine”
Today, Tonight, Tomorrow…It’s all about Tapas, on this weeks edition
of “Kitchen Cuisine”…
PARTICIPATE
We all need to eat, what better to serve for an upcoming meal than the
“Foosic” of the week by Chef Stuarto…
Simple grilled scampi
Ingredients
12 large shrimp
1/4 cup basil
2 tbls crushed garlic
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 stick butter
Juice of 1 lemon
1/4 cup cream
6 romaine lettuce leaves
2 bamboo skewers
Clean and de vain shrimp
Leave tails on
Place in a bowl
Add garlic, oil, basil , lemon juice and toss well
Cover and refrigerate overnight
Place 6 shrimp on each skewer
Grill lightly brushing marinade as you grill 5 minutes on each side
and remove
Take remaining marinade, butter and cream and heat until slightly
thickened
Remove shrimp from skewers and place in sauce
Gently toss for 1 minute and remove from heat
Place lettuce on a plate
Place shrimp on top
Pour sauce over the shrimp
Get some nice crusty bread to sop up the sauce and enjoy!!!
