Welcome to this weeks edition of KSVR Word Waves, a short and simple
guide to what’s happening on KSVR, 91.7FM!
HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK
The first installment of the special KPFK produced Pacifica Special,”
Building a Powerful Left in the United States,” will play on KSVR at 7
pm, February 21 -28, and will be repeated February 28-March 4.
Informing this series is the sense that three years into the gravest
economic crisis since the Great Depression, the vast majority of
Americans have no significant political movement that truly represents
their interests. The series raises the question, how can such a
movement develop in the U S?

Speak Up! Speak Out! February 23, 5 pm Ginny talks with Saria and
Janet about the Chuckanut Tranisition Community - with will be the
focus of the first night of the 8th Annual Skagit Human Rights
Festival.
Midnight Documentary (midnight February 23) Clifford Walker, Oregon
native and Chair of the Oregon Commission on Black Affairs, has been
asking for several years "why don't we remove the symbols of racial
oppression from our currency??
5PM Thurs, Feb 24th “Skagit Talks”

This popular program, hosted by Chef Stuarto has moved to Friday
nights –spend your evening amid music and food musings –what could be
a better way to unwind and prepare for the weekend?
PARTICIPATE
The Selector, host of the Friday RockSteady Show for the past 1.5
years has retired and moved on to other worthy projects at KSVR, such
as engineering the popular “My Point of View” bilingual program in
both English and Spanish, which airs on Wednesdays at 11AM, and co-
hosting “The Skagit Music Show” which airs on Sundays at 4:30PM. To
all reggae fans out there that miss this program, consider visiting
The Selector at the live scene of “The Skagit Music Show” which takes
place every Sunday from 4:30-5PM at KSVR Studios in Reeves Hall, on
the campus of Skagit Valley College.
Save the date! Spring KSVR Open House and 5th Anniversary Party for
"Speak Up! Speak Out!"
Wednesday, March 9th 4-6PM
Tour the station, enjoy birthday refreshments, and participate in the
first "KSVR Radio Revival" by bringing your favorite radio -vintage or
the latest 2011 model, to share how you listen to your local community
radio station!
