What's Happened
KSVR hosted our first "KSVR Reads and Records" event, on February
25th, and will be making this a regular monthly offering, for
volunteers interested in auditioning to read and research promotional
materials to promote local and hosted programs. Plan on attending the
next event, on Thursday, April 8th from 8-9PM. (keep reading, to find
out why the late hour!)
LISTEN
Tune in to Noticias Skagit, to learn about issues of importance to the
Latino Community...
1. Papers- This article is based on a movie that talks about the
stories of students who are undocumented and the problems they face
when they want to attend universities.
2. The Republicans and the conservative movement should unite for
immigration reform so they can win the increasingly Hispanic vote for
legislative elections.
3. Sea mar promotes a training to the people of the community. They
are offering a new program called "Health Promoters"
4. A year in office for presient BVarack Obama, and the law
sanctioned a year ago that has helped the economic crisis and saved 2
million jobs
5. If you want to help kdis with education -come to workships at
Casita Azul for parents and students, given in both English and
Spanish. The next workshop will be March 10th.
Wednesday, March 3rd, "Speak Up, Speak Out" 5PM, 11PM, and Sunday at
8PM
First in a series of programs related to the Human Rights Film
Festival, of which KSVR is a co-sponsor. THis week focuses on housing
as a human right, and includes interviews with people working with
alternative building systems.
Thursday, March 4th "Alternative Radio" 4PM
KSVR presents "Alternative Radio" an antidote to the corporate media
message. Conversations with Dr. Lester Brown, president of the Earth
Policy Institute and author of "Plan B 4.0: Mobilizing to Save
Civilization." Dr. Brown talks about the irreparable ruin of the
environment, that we unaware of, because the measurement standards
have changed, and we do not have the right indexes for measuring
catastrophe and this is a catastrophe in slow motion.
Thursday, March 4th "Bookviews" 4:55PM, Saturday at 7:25PM
Skagit County librarians tell a 5 minute or less tale of the fantasy
novel "Incarceron" by author Carrie Fisher.
Thursday, March 4th "Skagit Talks" 5PM, 11PM, Sunday at 8:30PM
Interviews with several people about the Human Rights Festival, by
reporter Monica Chaplin. News Editor Joanna Bruno has gathered
reports on income tax fraud, stroke incidence in women, coyotes in
your neighborhood, Toyota recall information, North Cascades Highway
opening and hte dangers of prescription drug use.
Friday, March 5th "Skagit Talks 2" 5PM
There is so much to talk about on Skagit Talks, we've create a second
program. Learn about human papillomavirus (HPV) and PAP with Kendall
Dodd, as interviewed by Sophia Lucataro.

Save the date! Our Spring Open House will be Thursday, April 8th from
8-10PM. This is also during our Spring Pledge Drive week, so since we
will all be at the station in the evening hours, to take your pledges,
we thought you'd like to join us! Participants will have the
opportunity to observe and participate during one of the longest
running music programs on KSVR: "The Massive Mix Session with DJ Def
Kawn" which airs on Thursday evenings from 8-10PM. More information
