at this past Sundays "Skagit Music Show" hosted by Ayla (The
Selector)...Swil Kanim, a violinist from the Lummi Tribe, shared music
and musings that made this 1/2 hour program go by way too fast.

5PM Monday Feb 28th “Skagit Talks”
There’s sure to be a great local focus on the Monday edition of Skagit
Talks –but you’ll have to tune in to find out what it is, this time!

8-10PM Monday, Feb 28th "Variety of Music"
That might not be the new official title of this program, but we can
tell you that "Dr. D" is officially hosting this program -and most
likely the focus will be jazz. Find out who this mysterious Dr D is
by tuning in -and you just might recognize the voice of this popular
program host, at any rate, you're sure to learn a thing or two about
jazz!

5PM Tuesday, March 1st “Skagit Talks”
Continue learning about issues and people of Skagit, by tuning in for
this locally produced program.

8-10PM Tuesday, March 1st “House Music With Ben”
Start off the month listening to great house music, locally produced
and hosted by Ben Nason of KSVR Radio.

11AM Wed, March 2nd “My Point of View”
Gustavo speaks with a member of the Washington Housing Trust regarding
home ownership. Listeners are encouraged to call in with questions
in both English and Spanish.

5PM Wed, March 2nd, “Speak Up! Speak Out!”
Skagit HRF 2011 – Countering Common Myths about our Latino Immigrants
(this program repeats at 11PM Wed and 8PM Sunday night, Speak up!

As introduction to the Skagit Human Rights Festival’s night focusing
on immigration, SUSO’s jim talks with three members of Community
Action’s Latino/a Advisory Committee (LAC) and some LaVenture Middle
School students and their advisor. The topic for the Thursday, March
17th event at 7 pm in the Phillip Tarro Theatre on the Skagit Valley
College campus is “Countering Common Myths about our Latino
Immigrants.” LAC members, Rev. Josefina Beecher who has an Episcopal
Hispanic ministry in the valley, Bethany Dearborn who works with
Tierra Nueva’s Family Support Center, and Diana Morelli of EDASC
(Economic Development Assoc. of Skagit County) introduce the topic by
mentioning some common myths that will be addressed and telling
stories to refute them. jim also talks with LaVenture Middle School
migrant students, Marta, Angelina, and Ana who were present with their
migrant graduation specialist, Janice Blackmore.

It’s time for Wednesday Blues with none other than Jackson Stewart,
get ready to hear two hours of the best in blues and Americana music.

Have you missed reading about the latest Foosic from Chef Stuarto? If
you are a student at Skagit Valley College (or just like to walk
around this beautiful campus) be sure to pick up the latest edition of
“The Cardinal” a student-produced newspaper, which includes pictures
and a recipe for making Baked Rigatoni Parmesan. This free
publication can be found directly inside many of the buildings located
on campus, and some locations around the Skagit Community.

KSVR Spring Open House! Wed, March 9th 4-6PM
It might not really seem like spring yet…but we’re still hosting an
open house, and celebration for 5 years of the locally produced
program “Speak Up! Speak Out!” over the airwaves, so consider joining
us at KSVR Studios for light refreshments, studio tours and more!
