KSP Arrests Man after Pursuit
Earlington, KY. (November 10, 2019)— On Sunday, November 10, 2019, at approximately 10:24 AM, Trooper Brian Graves, of Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville, observed a bobtail truck disregard a traffic light on W Main Street in Earlington, KY.
Trooper Graves initiated his emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop, but the operator of the truck, later identified as Joshua Thacker, 26, of Earlington, KY, accelerated and began to flee. The pursuit continued to Oakwood Avenue, where Thacker lost control of his vehicle, leaving the roadway. While attempting to take Thacker into custody, he became combative, and attempted to disarm Trooper Graves. Thacker was unsuccessful, and began to flee on foot, but was apprehended by Trooper Graves and Fish and Wildlife Officer Brant Green.
Further investigation revealed Thacker had warrants issued for his arrest, and the truck he was operating was stolen.
Joshua Thacker was arrested and lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center where he was charged with the following:
1.) Resisting Arrest
2.) Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, (Motor Vehicle)
3.) Assault 3rd Degree- Police Officer
4.) Disarming a Peace Officer (Attempt)
5.) Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operator’s License
6.) Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree
7.) Reckless Driving
8.) C.D.L. (Not Licensed)
9.) TBUT or DISP Auto- $10,000 or more, but under $1,000,000
The outstanding arrest warrants were also served.
