Dreamweaver - not a necessity ..but will make ur job much easier
Xampp  -- absolutely  necessary .. do download it from kgp before u go... all future assignments can only be done using this
Photoshop / gimp / image editors -- not a necessity ... but once or twice may come handy for making css
do use firebug, colorzilla , Measureit - these are addons for firefox that makes your work a lot easier -- highly recommended
notepad++ -- a simple editor

do make arrangements for internet @ home ... without it u r not gonna head anywhere
