here are a few good links with descriptions:

1.http://www.zurb.com/playground - really awesome website which shows
how you can create awesome effects using CSS3 (the biggest advantage
of this is that the code is very light as compared to JavaScript or
Flash, and since the ktj 2010 website had size as its biggest problem,
I think CSS3 is the way to go for us, generating great effects with
lightweight code). There's also some JavaScript/AJAX demos towards the
end of the page.

2.http://www.scriptocean.com/accordion.html - an innovative and
vibrant menu made mostly using js.

3.http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex5/bookmarkscroll.htm - shows
how to make smooth scrolling HTML anchors using JavaScript. Has a nice
effect altogether.

4.http://www.zachstronaut.com/lab/isocube.html - a 3D cube made using
only CSS3!! Notice that all the text is selectable, and the left face
has a video playing on it if you open the page in firefox!

2. http://www.d3estudio.com.br/site/site.php : Use a web cam to navigate through the site . As the user moves left or right the menu  moves to the left or right.

Lookout for various vertical menus and other stuff at
http://csscreme.com/inspirations/design-inspirations/inspirational_vertical_menu_list

Also take a look at the interesting "fancy captcha" at the bottom of
this page.
