-       Microsoft Office Proficient - Especially Excel
-       Ability to Travel - Some to the Branch Locations in TX/LA Gulf Coast Area

OPERATIONS ACCOUNTANT-CENTRAL HOUSTON (Inside Loop 610): $60-$70K + QTR BONUS

Our Client (or "the Company") is a private equity-backed niche SERVICES company poised for growth.
-       CENTRAL HOUSTON HQ (INSIDE LOOP 610)/GULF COAST OPERATIONS - With the Company's HQ in Central Houston (INSIDE LOOP 610), our Client currently has 120 employees, with 10 in Corporate HQ, including a three (3) person Management Team - President/Founder, COO/Founder and the CFO/COO - with six (6) in Corporate Accounting/Finance (the CFO, the Corporate Controller and four (4) Accountants), with operations currently in six (6) cities (Branch Locations) in two (2) states (TX & LA) along the Texas/Louisiana Gulf Coast.
-       BACKED BY THE BEST - Our Client is backed by a successful and highly regarded private equity firm investing in middle market companies with a strong, highly regarded Board of Directors of successful CEOs and CFOs, and a seasoned, successful industry Management Team.  The CFO and Controller are also both longtime WM Shirley Friends and fellow Big Four Alum and CPAs.
-       REPLACEMENT POSITION IN CENTRAL HOUSTON (INSIDE LOOP 610) - With one of the four (4) Company Accountants - who has been with the Company since 2006 - leaving to go work in a family business in May 2010. As such, the Company is looking for a HANDS ON Accountant to come in and take over the accounting for one of the Company's two (2) operating companies, which has four (4) Branch Locations in TX and LA.
-       GROUND FLOOR GROWTH OPPORTUNITY - To grow with a high caliber Management Team focused on quality organic growth and symbiotic acquisitions.
-       GREAT UPSIDE - With the Company posed for growth, this position will benefit both professionally and personally.
-       SOME TRAVEL - To Branch Operations to the TX/LA Gulf Coast for inventories and process controls.

POSITION DUTIES:

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, a CPA and fellow Big Four Alum with 15+ years' experience, and long time WM Shirley Friend who has been with the Company since 2009 and worked previously with the CFO, another longtime WM Shirley Friend, at another company in a Controller capacity, responsibilities for this OPERATIONS ACCOUNTANT are as follows:
-       OVERALL - Responsible for all accounting for one (1) of the two (2) operating companies covering four (4) Branch Locations in TX & LA: all accounting functions including the general ledger, inventory, fixed assets, AP billings and financial reporting.
-       MONTH END CLOSE/GL MAINTENANCE - Performing accounting activities relating to the maintenance of the General Ledger and the month-end close process; Reviewing all general ledger account reconciliations
-       FINANCIAL REPORTING & ANALYSIS - Ensuring all financial reports are prepared in a timely and accurate manner; Preparing financial statements and related reports/analysis of customer base et al, budgets and variance analysis for Management.
-       MONTHLY CLOSE - Performing the monthly balancing of books and account reviews; preparing the monthly financial statements. Working closing with the Management Team at 4 branch locations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the monthly financial reporting.
-       ACCOUNTS PAYABLE -Overseeing the accounts payable function, including, but not limited, to purchase order procedures, capitalization policy and preparing check runs.
-       INVENTORY - Matching monthly inventory quantities to the general ledger, and coordinating semi-annual physical inventory counts.
-       PURCHASING - Improving the Purchasing area in matching of Purchase Orders to Invoices.
-       BANK RECONCILIATIONS - Reconciling bank accounts on a monthly basis.
-       JOURNAL ENTRIES - Recording monthly journal entries.
-       INTERNAL CONTROLS - Monitoring effectiveness of internal controls.
-       INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY - Coordinating with the IT function for the Company, and assessing, coordinating and integrating the best systems/practices to the goals of the Company.
-       PROCESS IMPROVEMENT - Reviewing processes on a continuous basis to ensure best practices and effective processes are in place in purchasing, payables, billings and other areas as identified.
-       AUDIT LIAISON - Coordinating annual independent external audit with a National CPA Firm.
-       OTHER VALUE ADDED - Responsibility and accountability for various job duties/responsibilities and special projects as directed and to be determined on own initiative.
-       MANAGERIAL & SUPERVISORY - No direct reports currently, but working closely with the four (4) Branch Locations (3 in TX and 1 in LA), the Corporate Controller, and the other three (3) accounting staff in HQ, one (1) of which handles the accounting for the other operating company and the other 2 who handle AR collections and AP processing.
-       LEADERSHIP - Fostering teamwork and good relations between all Company functions; change management leader/interface with operations groups.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

-       BASE SALARY in $60,000 to $70,000 range, commensurate with experience;
-       BONUS AWARDS: 7-10% of base salary tied to individual and Company performance metrics; Paid QUARTERLY.

-       Insurance - The Company funds a portion of Employee's cost for participation in a quality HMO and PPO medical and Dental plan; Dependent Medical and Dental PPO coverage are available at cost to employee.  The Company also funds 100% of cost for enrollment in short-term and long-term disability plans and $15,000 accidental death and $15,000 life insurance benefit
-       Vacation - At least two (2) weeks of vacation initially, commensurate with experience
-       CPA Expenses - Reimbursement of all necessary and approved CPA and CPE expenses
