2012 KSEA Young Investigator Grant Winners
Dr. Jongho Lee (Assistant Professor, University of Pennsylvania) and Dr. Cheol-Hwan Park (Robert Bosch Research and Technology Center) have been selected for the 2012 KSEA Young Investigator Grant. Each winner will be awarded $10,000 honorarium and a grant certificate.

2012 KOFST (Young Generation Forum) YGF Finalists
KSEA congratulates final 30 YG memebers who have been invited to the YGF2011.
YGF 2012 will be held from July 2 - July 7, 20121 in Seoul, Korea. KOFST hosts the event for young Korean Heritage Scientists and Engineers from all over the world.

[Revitalization of Wisconsin Chapter]
The KSEA-Wisconsin Chapter has been revived in Madison, the capital city of Wisconsin and home of the Wisconsin Badgers. The students and scholars of Wisconsin gathered with our neighbors from Minnesota to host the 1st KSEA President’s Cup Tennis Tournament on April 14th, 2012.

[Dayton-Ohio Branch: NMSC 2012]
As many as 137 students in grades 4-11 took the exam and around 200 parents and siblings waited with anticipation. Some of these participants came from different regions in Ohio and its neighboring states. More than 50 volunteers showed up.

[Kick-off Meeting of KSEA Johns Hopkins University YG Chapter]
The KSEA JHU YG Chapter successfully hosted its first event as a legitimate chapter on April 29, 2012 with its kick-off event. It was a rewarding night for all as the undergraduates were able to meet and converse with these successful and leading individuals, and as the board members saw the marked beginning of our KSEA YG chapter.

[2012 KOPANA Spring Seminar]
The Korean Pathologists Association of North America (KOPANA) was founded in 1992 and currently consists of more than 200 Korean pathologists in North America. Our 11th Spring Seminar had six lectures in Genitourinary (GU) pathology which emphasized practical diagnostic utility as well as the latest advances and controversies in research.

| Prof. Philip Kim Spoke at Southern Virginia Chapter |
Prof. Philip Kim of the Columbia University talked about his research at the inaugural technical seminar of Southern Virginia Chapter on March 16, 2012.
Prof. Kim started with the two most important achievements in physics in the 20th century, the discoveries of the theory of relativity and quantum physics, then moved on Dirac equation combining both theories, and concluded with his own research on grapheme and their applications.

Awaking by the shrill crying, I felt a strange glance of a blond and blue-eyed baby. The white salt lake could be seen from the window. The Park city for UKC 2011 is a mountainous resort town in Utah. Although I had been got information about KSEA annual meeting, I had been felt a bit awkward to attend because of my different background. However, I had decided to attend UKC 2011, August 10-14, instead for the 2011 IFT in New Orleans.

| Get to Know: Dr. Benjamin Lee, KSEA General Director |
I received my Ph.D. in electrical engineering (systems) in the area of signal processing from the University of Michigan and currently I am a research scientist at a start-up called INVIA Medical Imaging Solutions in Ann Arbor, MI.
As a second generation, I found about KSEA through the recommendation of my father to apply for the KSEA undergraduate scholarship. Since then I had received regular announcements about the Young Generation Forum in Korea (in 2003) and the Young Generation Technical and Leadership Conference (YGTLC) in 2006 and attended both. Since then I had enjoyed my experiences so much I became involved in volunteering for KSEA and plan on continuing to do so for a long time.

Engineering News : The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) taps 10 scientists as directors |
The Institute for Basic Science announced top 10 directors who will lead research centers for basic sciences. Most directors are directly and indirectly related to KSEA. Professor Sang-wook Cheong of Rutgers University and Professor Yong-geun Oh of University of Wisconsin - Madison are currently working in the US. Professor Oh is an active KSEA member. In addition, Professor Tae-won Noh of Seoul National University served as a program co-chair of UKC 2011, and Professor V. Narry Kim of Seoul National University was an invited speaker at UKC 2011.
