It is with a sad heart that I write to tell you that our dear Cecile has passed away. I received an email from her daughter today which is attached below. May she be in peace.

I hate to email you this news - but I don't know how to call. 

My mom has passed away. She was struggling a lot with life and living. She's at peace now. 

We spent 12 days together in Ireland at the beginning of February. We were blessed with this focused time with one another before she left. 

I hope you are well and that life is good. Mom asked that I email you and ask that you notify the KSA colleagues.

Thank you Belinda for sharing this news. Cecile was a beautiful gentle
lady. I felt so privileged to have connected with her on many levels. Her
knowledge and experience made for many great talks and I always left
feeling that they made me a better person. I am sure she will be missed
but her time with us will always be cherished. I hope everyone is doing
well and send all my best.

Thanks for sharing the link to Cecile's obituary, Belinda. I just read it and her sweet nature really came through. I treasure the moments that I spent with Cecile, strolling around the grounds of Kripalu. It got me thinking about her love of the forests and nature in general.

Mike, I am all in for donating to an organization. Since her company name was RedHawk Ayurveda, maybe we could donate to a bird sanctuary, or some sort of wildlife refuge etc. Just an idea.

Oh my.  I'm so sorry to hear this news, but uplifted by the beautiful memories shared.  The world will miss her kind, compassionate nature, as will I.

I love the donation ideas, and think donating to nature conservation feels right for me (as she so loved the peacefulness of nature).  I think Mike's idea to each do our own donation in her name is easiest, but I'm certainly open to an organized group donation--whatever you all prefer.

Today is the Equinox and a loving note from Cecile would have been finding it's way to us to mark the turn of another season with her sweet, kind, uniting words.

Dear friends,

I emailed Cecile’s daughter the other day to see if Cecile had any special organizations for donations, but have not yet heard back. Two places that I know were dear to her heart were the retreat center in Ireland https://www.dzogchenbeara.org/about/ and the Buddhist center in Washington DC https://washington.usa.rigpa.org/. 

Just some ideas in addition to the red hawk idea. 

I agree with Mike that it may be best to do individual donations rather than a group, unless we do something like a scholarship fund for KSA in her name.

Hello Belinda and the KSA group. 

This is Monique Allen - emailing from my mother’s (Cecile’s) computer and email account. 

I’ve just arrived at her home in Cumberland to spend some time with family. We held a celebration of life in Boston on Sunday and it was amazing to hear the varied memories of her. 

Today, in checking her email for folks who may not yet know of her passing, I came upon all your beautiful words in loving memory of her. Wow, such a gift to me to read. I thank you. I know they weren’t sent to me, but I want you to know that reading this email string has been so heartwarming. 

I agree! My mother loved nature and any donation to a nature/conservation cause would warm her heart. And, YES, she absolutely loves Dzogchen Beara. That’s we shared 9 amazing days together in the beginning of February. We ate together, walked together, and spoke together each day. It was so healing. She knew she was leaving this world. I didn’t. I was still hoping for more time. She was so wise, she knew her time was at an end. And, she knew we needed this important time together. I realize now that she is where she wants to be. She was ready. 

Thank you all for the love and kindness you offered her in friendship. I won’t likely be on this email again, so may you all be blessed with a wonderful year!

Today would have been Cecile's 74th birthday.

I was sure to have a pen and paper with me whenever we spoke on the phone. She was always a glorious fountain of wisdom. Here are some highlights from a conversation we had in the fall:

"The Tibetan Yoga of Breath (book) is a great company to me. I feel less sad and less attached and I love the people in my life more than ever. Solitude is my preference."

"Curve back to what you know."

"Take little steps. There isn't far to go."

"You've got a big fat ego problem."

"A good relationship won't come until you attract one."

"Wake yourself up. It's not hard."

"You're doing a dance for ego!"

"When emotions bloom, they disappear."

"This suffering is your ticket out."

"Stop running."

"The details are just the details."

"The situation is the guru."

"You're suffering? You're alive!"

"Whatever you're in, use it."

"You can't do it when you're dead, only when you're suffering."

"Forgive yourself and DO something!"

"Bring enjoyment and peace into your life."

"Peacefulness is your birthright, but nobody's going to give it to you!"

"Enjoy everything. Don't be attached."

Cecile is (I am not able to write about her in the past tense!) one of my very favorite people in the world. She gave me this message years ago and it rested at my bedside - the first thing I saw when I woke each day:

"Good morning, Carrie. May you breathe into this day all that you are....beauty, strength, determination and love. I'll do the same and keep you in my prayers. Love, Cecile"
