Hello !

September 22 marks the first day of Fall 2021.  Spring blooming plants have made seeds, summer blooming plants are browning and getting ready for fall.  Monarchs are headed south, with a few caterpillars still chewing Milkweeds and on their way to being the  last generation of the year traveling to Mexico.  Hope you have had a good growing season for your landscapes.

KNPS held the outdoor tour section of the Annual Wildflower Weekend over the past weekend in SE Kansas and SW Missouri.  We stopped at 5 locations to walk and identify the plants and their habitats.  We had a few people who were new to native plant observation and were glad to point out what makes each plant unique.  Photos are posted in the KNPS Facebook Plant ID Group.  This account is set to public viewing, you do not need an account to view.

KNPS has scheduled it's Virtual Membership Meeting for this Thursday, September 23 at 6:15 p.m.  All members received an invitation with the Zoom login code in the mail.  Locate your copy and plan to attend the meeting - perhaps you entered the Photo Contest - we will reveal the winning photos picked from all the terrific entries.

PlanItNative Annual Conference begins on Wednesday Sept. 22.  This is a three-day, in person and virtual learning event for everyone interested in native plants, soils, landscaping, pollinators, stewardship and the native plant nursery business.  If you can't attend in person or the live programs, you can still log in to watch and re-watch the speakers for an entire year.  Review the Program Guide and register now.
