Hidden Valley Trails Day • Douglas County
Hidden Valley Camp • 3420 Bob Billings Parkway • Lawrence, KS • Map
Sat, Jun 5th @ 8:30-11:30am
Themed guided hikes and other guided hikes will be led by local experts and enthusiasts, highlighting the flora, fauna, history, geology, and hydrology of this 39-acre camp. The urban camp has two major streams, a restored prairie, a wetland/pond, a bioswale with native plants, and forests we are in the process of restoring by removing invasive honeysuckle and planting native trees to replace the earlier planted and dominant osage orange trees. The public is welcome to this, our annual open-to-the-public event, as the camp is owned by the non-profit Hidden Valley Committee and used primarily by Girl Scouts. Please visit the website for a link to Sign Up Genius, to reserve your spot on the themed hikes (and for the opportunity to become a member of Friends, to support our efforts).
