Greetings to all of you!

Winter 2009/2010 has been exceptionally busy for us,
with lots of snowfall and race training on beautiful trails,
followed by the White Oak Classic Sled Dog Race on January 9,
and many dogsled rides and educational presentations given!

Now we are very excited to tell you about two upcoming events for Krystal Kennels.  Of course we are excited about EVERY guest we take with us out on the trail, really!  We're not just saying that!  We truly do have a blast of a good time every time we go out on the trail.  Yes, there are adventures along the way.  Some days things don't go exactly as planned
with a bunch of excited dogs pulling you down the trail.  But we do have fun!

However, two SPECIAL events are taking place within the next week.  The first one is happening tomorrow at O'Brien Reservoir between Grand Rapids and Hibbing, Minnesota.  This event is called "No Child Left Inside" and is organized by the Nashwauk-Keewatin school to teach students about winter outdoor activities including snowshoeing, ice fishing, winter safety, and, of course, dogsledding!  We are happy that the school invited us back for their annual winter event, and we look forward to teaching many students about basic mushing techniques and commands tomorrow.

The second event that we are eagerly anticipating will be our training session on Friday, February 26, with staff and students from BLIND, Inc.  The acronym BLIND stands for Blind Learning In New Dimensions, and these folks frequently choose to expand their horizons with challenging activities.  After we completed our mushing program with this group in February 2009, one of their members wrote a must-read article that was published in The Braille Monitor, found at the following link:  http://www.nfb.org/images/nfb/Publications/bm/bm09/bm0909/bm090910.htm
