Suddenly no multiple instances (Single instance mode UN-checked)

Hi

I have been a keen user of Krusader as long as I have used Ubuntu. Now I have created an extra partition with Ubuntu 20.04 and installed Krusader and in Settings 'Single instance mode' is UN-checked (of course).

But after restarting Ubuntu 20.04 a few times suddenly it will not start extra instances of Krusader. When I press the 'windows' key and type kru and <enter> it just switches to the existing instance.

This is a serious drawback for me. I know you can use tabs. But I am used to having several instances. Can any one help me, please? Thank you.

Here in Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS I use Krusader Version 2.7.2 "Peace of Mind".

In Ubuntu 18.04 I use Krusader Version 2.6.0 "Stiff Challenges"

OK. I discovered a work-around:

When you press the windows key and type 'kru', you right-click on the Krusader icon and choose New Window. But I would prefer to just press <enter>.

if it doesn't work, with Krusader open, launch a second one from the Terminal too see what happens.

But... from that article I deduct that I need to open Terminal, do "sudo apt install gnome-shell-extension-prefs" then "gnome-shell-extension-prefs" and there I have to "Look down the list for "Launch new instance"." But I can't find any list in gnome-shell-extension-prefs.

And by the way: I get this message in Terminal:

$ gnome-shell-extension-prefs

gnome-shell-extension-prefs is deprecated

Install https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.gnome.Extensions for extension management, or use the gnome-extensions command line tool.

Extensions can use the ExtensionUtils.openPrefs() method.

But that results in this in Terminal:

$ sudo apt install gnome-shell-extension

So I don't really understand the answer you refer to.

Sorry, I thought it was out-of-the-box in Gnome (I never ever used it).

From the Terminal, what happens if you execute krusader when another instance is open?

If you get two windows, then I can say it is something with the Launcher, otherwise we must find another solution.

So it seems it is something with gnome panel. I've got no experience on gnome;
there should be an option to not switch to running application on a second
startup but I don't know where.

Many of these warnings are about icon theme, nothing to be worried, but they
are annoying.

The console cleanup is a task we are aware of, but it's not urgent (we lacks of
contributors).
