Has the piSmasher video output plan settled down yet?

I'm curious how hard it will be (if possible) to drive video output from a baremetal app, or if bringing up that port is going to require a booted Linux & driver etc.

In the short term I'm going to wire up one of these from PL pins to a simple VGA display:

Hi Rob,

We can confirm one of the piSmasher video outputs will be HDMI (per the original spec). Right now we are supporting the video transceiver in Linux.
