Okay: Booted xenial an a Black. Connected on serial console and reset password. Went to add my standard user name and sudo crapped out with
sudo: /usr/bin/sudo must be owned by uid 0 and have the setuid bit set
Okay, something is gummed up. Look at /usr/bin/sudo: no setuid.
Mount card in PC, chmod sudo to 4755 and reboot snickerdoodle.
Same problem.
So: I cannot configure the network to install the packages, nor can I set the setuid stuff on the snickerdoodle.
I did not see any obvious answers on Google but I am a serial console newbie. Happy to be taught the fix.

What is the process you're following for creating you're user and allowing permissions? Can you provide a console printout of what you're seeing?
